The people and businesses who voted in the business and residential referenda, accepted the WECNF Neighbourhood Plan

At 1:30am on 4th May 2018 in Ealing Town Hall it was announced that of the people and businesses who voted in the business and residential referenda, more than 50% voted in favour of the plan. This Neighbourhood Plan is now the planning guidance developers must follow in the centre of West Ealing. Of course developers must also follow guidance contained in Ealing’s Local Plan, the London Plan and the National Planning Policy Framework.

The verified number of voters in the business referenda was 21 – a 46.67% turnout. Presumably the business electorate number was those businesses who registered to vote, and not the number of businesses in the Neighbourhood Area. The verified number of residential voters was 1,576 – a 35% turnout.

Residents:  Number of votes cast in favour of YES 1,345 (out of 1,576 ballot papers)

Businesses: Number of votes cast in favour of YES 19 (out of 21 ballot papers)

The chairman of WECNF, Eric Leach said “I want to thank all those who participated in creating the plan and to all those who voted.”
